The nation is working together to accelerate the adoption of solar energy. Although the southwest region is able to produce the highest energy output in the nation, all regions are quickly adapting in order to maximize the production and utilization of solar energy.

The Department of Energy has recognized the nation's solar energy output potential, and in conjunction with other factors, has selected 25 U.S. cities to help lay the foundation for a solar energy market. These Solar America Cities are acting as a model for the rest of the nation in producing and utilizing solar energy.
